Parenting FAIL – Naming and Shaming Myself

Today, we got to nursery and Sausage’s keyworker asked me “Does she have any sunscreen on?” – Er, no, I had to answer.

“Okay, no problem, does she have any in her bag?” – Errr, no…

*feels (correctly) judgemental glare of keyworker*

Despite everything that has happened to our family in the past three years, despite Sausage being fair of skin and red of hair, despite having a ‘dodgy’ mole removed myself last year, despite me tweeting and Facebooking to remind everyone else, I am still  and absolute failure, a fucking JOKE of a person when it comes to remembering sunscreen.

I am utterly ashamed of myself, which is why I’m writing this, to shame myself even further and make sure I never again forget sunscreen.

Oh. And when I picked her up, she was wearing a ‘nursery hat’. Looks like I failed on that front too.

Off to the shops I go.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, its tough to gauge exactly what three days a year the sun shines in this swamp they call England.
But, off to the shop anyhow :)

Don’t be so tough on yourself, we all forget about sunscreen now and again, I’m forever doing it despite having a bottle in the fridge, one in my handbag and another in the bathroom. Both Grannys have started keeping a bottle in their house I’m that bad at forgetting it.

Missis don’t be too hard on yourself! It’s hardly ever sunny and it’s easy to forget. Nursery should have cream and hats in my opinion! Sometimes mums need reminding we wouldn’t be human if we didn’t!! I think you are a fantastic mum x

Nooooo Noooo!!! You are not a failure!! Since Z was born the sun has shone about 6 times properly and I constantly worry he’s not going to get enough rays and Vitamin D or whatever. Past few days I’ve been so excited that I took him out for hours and then in the evening commented to my friend about how he was looking really brown. She innocently asked if I use sunblock and I froze…I dont even have any in the house!! You are not a failure. After this week our summer will probably be over….dont be hard on yourself xx
