Mum. Wife. Dog owner. Blogger. Housework-avoider. Still deciding what I want to be when I grow up.
That’s me in a nutshell.
This is me in a slightly bigger nutshell:
My name is Jayne, I’m 40-something, I live in the South East of England with my Husband, our eldest Daughter (born August 2008), who you’ll know as ‘Sausage’, our youngest daughter, Burrito Baby (BB) (born February 2014) and Maureen, our puppy (we sadly lost our 14-year-old English Bull Terrier-cross, Chuck, but you can still find lots of lovely posts about him on Mum’s the Word). We live in the middle of nowhere, flanked by farmland, in a rural hamlet of South East Essex.
As well as writing a blog, I have various other things that I do on a day-to-day basis; I work as a Document Control Administrator for the NHS, a couple of different writing jobs and some PR work, all thrown in for good measure. Obviously, I’m a ‘variety is the spice of life’ kind of gal…
I started Mum’s the Word in 2010 as a way to get the 4 million unarticulated thoughts that were making a daily tornado in my brain out onto a page. I didn’t think anyone would ever read it and the day that I got 73 views, a few weeks later, I felt like the Tolkien of the blogging world. Then I burst my own bubble and realised I still had a very long way to go, so I’m still working at it, having finally reached a spot in the top 100 of the Tots100, but most of all just using my blog as a way to rant, share, connect, document and try to make a few people laugh. I hope you enjoy what you find here, I’m very proud of it all…so far!
